Mud Lake Project

Six people, from different walks of life, took the name “The History Team” and proceeded to make a positive change in the world. As a project for Leadership Skagit Class of 2007 Elinor Nakis, Amy Wilcox, Janie Beasley, Josh Scott, Debbie Blunt and Lou Petersen worked with the Clearlake Community Historical Association and the Skagit Land Trust to build a kiosk at Mud Lake and install a sign that showed the past, present and future.

On May 31st 2007 this project was completed. Not only was a new kiosk and sign installed but the “Welcome to Clearlake” sign was completely renewed thanks to the Skagit County Parks Department.

As a result of this work and community connection the Clearlake Community Historical Association has opened the grass area as a public park for all citizens to enjoy. This park is another valuable piece of the Centennial Trail.

The Skagit Parks Foundation contributed $500 in support of this project.
